I do think you're on the money that Tommen has to die though. If Tommen and Myrcella die, then there's no Lannister claim to the Throne and the Tyrells no longer have a reason to hold on to the Throne. That opens up all sorts of chaos, and so far ASOIAF has been a progression from order to chaos.
The knock-on effect here is huge - if Loras spilled the beans to the High Sparrow, and the HS told Tommen, this sends Tommen straight away from Margaery and right back to Cersei - he's been utterly betrayed. He needs his mother's love, and also her will to power. 4 Something really far out.
The romance of Cersei (Lena Headey) and Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in Game of Thrones was banned and treated as a dirty secret in Westeros, even though Targaryens had ruled the country for centuries while wedding brother to sister. In both Game of Thrones and the A Song of Ice and Fire books the show is based upon, audiences are
Cersei Lannister: The things he did shocked me. [they look towards Tommen] He's only a boy. A good boy, a decent boy, he always has been. Who was the last decent king, I wonder? He could be the first man to sit on that throne in fifty years to actually deserve it. Margaery Tyrell: It would be some consolation, wouldn't it? For all the horror
By the end of ADWD there is basically Tommen and his disgraced mother left. The other major Lannisters have either gone rogue or are dead. There is no major Lannister left to command the House. And no one is loyal to them beyond what they are paid for. In my opinion House Lannister will be gone by the end of the series.
Joanna Lannister, with her children Cersei and Jaime, by Naomimakesart ©. Cersei was born in 266 AC as the first-born child and only daughter to Ser Tywin Lannister, heir to Casterly Rock and Hand of the King, and his wife, Lady Joanna. [1] [2] Cersei was born shortly before her twin brother Jaime, who was holding her foot.
Tywin is bathed in bright light while Cersei is in the dark shadows. Tywin takes Tommen away from Cersei, away from the darkness and up the stairs into the light. This is probably one of the only instances in the series where Tywin is "in the light" compared to another character. He is also acting Hand of the King .
Joffrey died at his own wedding to Margaery Tyrell, Myrcella was poisoned by Ellaria Sand in Dorne, and Tommen took his own life following his mother’s callous decision to blow up the Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing. Cersei, who was crowned queen after Tommen’s death, was expecting her fourth child with Jaime at the time of their deaths.
